Monnett – Maternity

Morgan and I have known each other for awhile now, but she has semi recently joined AEP as my assistant and holy wowza I don’t know what I’d do without her. It all started when we had a brief conversation during one of her family sessions. She mentioned that she could totally be my assistant if I felt like I needed one. I didn’t know what I was missing in my life until she came in and showed me. You guys, I was a hot mess. I still am, but I’m a better hot mess version because of her ha!

I love her family so much. Lyla comes into the studio when Morgan works and she’s kind of become my little buddy. I’ve noticed her opening up to  me and I’ve gotten to know her sassy quirkiness throughout the few months they’ve been helping me out! She’s so dang smart y’all. Like I can’t deal with how smart she is. It’s going to be amazing to see her interact with her little brother.

Also, can I just shout out Brandon real quick? I know he gets to hear all of my ups and downs in this crazy owning my own business world when I’m corresponding with Morgan and he is such a trooper! He even talks things out and provides ideas when we are in a bind. I promise, okay I’ll try, not to text during dinner time and have Morgan break her own rules Brandon!

Peep their magical maternity/ family session below!

Christy + Blake + Baby Bump

It’s funny how photography works. One summer will be filled with ALL of the family sessions, one summer will be filled with seniors the next something different! I was talking with a friend lately about how there must be something in the water because I’ve photographed ALL of the baby bumps lately. And they’ve been so beautiful.

Christy and Blake suggested water for their session and I loved the idea. Little did I know we would have THE perfect day for such a session. Christy was a trooper because this little hidden gem of a place is behind some baseball fields, which apparently were holding tournaments during our slotted session time. She made baring her bump with a possible crowd looking on look effortless and magical.

You both are going to be incredible parents and I’m so excited for you to bring life into this world!

sidenote: her Becky shirt is on point and I think everyone who is pregnant should have one!

Baby Boom

I’m convinced this is the year of the baby. Within the last couple weeks I photographed a few newborn sessions, baby milestone sessions, a birth, a gender reveal and a maternity session. I’m not mad about it. I’ve loved seeing many of these couples and or families I’ve photographed in the past grow and add an addition or two to their crew. It’s what makes photography so inspiring and so much fun!

Below are a few favorites from Makenzie and Mitch’s maternity session. I loved that Makenzie had the idea to incorporate the rainbow in representation of her rainbow baby. It’s such an inspiration to other’s who have been in similar situations and or are still waiting for their miracle to see someone who has weathered the storm and can be so open about their experience. Plus, her belly is banging and she looks incredible! Mitch is one lucky guy!

Side note, Louie (dog) killed this Session with his good looks and love of the camera!

Mel: Maternity and family… Holy geez the beauty.

Mel and I went to high school together and I’ve seen her family grow through social media and reading her blog posts. She has two stunning young boys and a third on the way! Mel asked me to do a 48 hour session when baby Emmett arrived and I could not have been happier. I love babies and all their squish, big brother moments and beautiful tinder family moments as their lives change in a blink of an eye. I approached Mel about doing a maternity session, mostly because she is a beautiful individual, but I also love maternity sessions and don’t schedule enough of them. As planning went along I decided why shouldn’t we bring the whole family along? It’d give the boys a chance to meet me and get used to me for the day Emmett made his appearance. I also brought a few water guns, for smiling purposes of course! See the beauty of what is Mel’s family below!

Adana + Tyler: Maternity

One AWESOME thing about being a photographer is that sometimes you get to photograph friends from the past! Adana and Tyler both went to high school with me and were that couple that dated through Jr. High School and High School.  They won every prom queen and king award and were destined to be together forever! Thus, making my job easier.  I’ve said it before and they have proven yet again that married couples are some of the BEST people to photograph.  They needed little to no direction, which leaves more time for joking and laughter.  And that we did.  My cheeks literally were sore from smiling and laughing the entire time.  They made the experience so much fun because they were so easy-going.  It was fun to catch up on life, including learning the due date for Adana and Tyler’s  little one to be! I suspect Hadley will be one lucky little girl to be brought up by as fun of a couple as Adana and Tyler!

Adana:  After learning you are an English teacher now, you are not allowed to judge my grammar and spelling or use this as a bad example in your class! 🙂

Dachshunds to Baby Bump!

This couple may not realize it, but they are very special to me when it comes to the start of my photography career.  Connected through my older sister, Bri, I first photographed Steph and Kyle and their two dachshunds.  They were one of my first clients and gave me the confidence to keep at it.  Last weekend, I got the pleasure of photographing Steph and Kyle and her growing bump! A beautiful and natural couple that need no direction when in front of the camera made for an easy session.  Laughing the entire time, made for such an enjoyable experience. Oh and did I mention I got to learn the name of the baby, Carter, before they revealed it at the baby shower the next day? I am truly lucky to work with such great people.

Whats up baby!

I was totally stoked to hear that my long time high school friend Sam and her fiance, Brian, were having a baby!  Even more stoked when they asked me to do their maternity photos.  I can not even begin to describe how much of a trooper Sam was.  We trekked the entire downtown of West Lafayette just to find these most awesome places to use as backdrops.  She, 8 months pregnant, WALKED the entire way and thought nothing about it.  We visited places they used to spend time at on dates, for fun, for leisure.  All in all it was a great time.  I can not wait to take photos of baby Ellee, whenever she decides to come out and play!

Leanne’s bump

Baby Simon Wagoner

It was such a great time shooting Leanne's maternity photos. Especially with a nursery theme of Dr. Seuss

She loooooves the STL Cardinals!
