Charmion: boho

Y’all ain’t ready for this bohemian queen. Charmion contacted me with the idea of photographing her in an outfit she recently ordered. I’ll be honest, I was like mmkay yeah sure I’ll do it, but not really knowing what I got myself into. Then I met her. She’s beautiful and such an awesome person. Also the way she moves in front of the camera. Lord help me. See for yourself below.

Christy + Blake + Baby Bump

It’s funny how photography works. One summer will be filled with ALL of the family sessions, one summer will be filled with seniors the next something different! I was talking with a friend lately about how there must be something in the water because I’ve photographed ALL of the baby bumps lately. And they’ve been so beautiful.

Christy and Blake suggested water for their session and I loved the idea. Little did I know we would have THE perfect day for such a session. Christy was a trooper because this little hidden gem of a place is behind some baseball fields, which apparently were holding tournaments during our slotted session time. She made baring her bump with a possible crowd looking on look effortless and magical.

You both are going to be incredible parents and I’m so excited for you to bring life into this world!

sidenote: her Becky shirt is on point and I think everyone who is pregnant should have one!

Baby Boom

I’m convinced this is the year of the baby. Within the last couple weeks I photographed a few newborn sessions, baby milestone sessions, a birth, a gender reveal and a maternity session. I’m not mad about it. I’ve loved seeing many of these couples and or families I’ve photographed in the past grow and add an addition or two to their crew. It’s what makes photography so inspiring and so much fun!

Below are a few favorites from Makenzie and Mitch’s maternity session. I loved that Makenzie had the idea to incorporate the rainbow in representation of her rainbow baby. It’s such an inspiration to other’s who have been in similar situations and or are still waiting for their miracle to see someone who has weathered the storm and can be so open about their experience. Plus, her belly is banging and she looks incredible! Mitch is one lucky guy!

Side note, Louie (dog) killed this Session with his good looks and love of the camera!

Third Wheel

I feel like I’ve somewhat been the third wheel in Erik and Meagan’s relationship. I’m totally not mad about it. I’ve photographed their family, just them, their engagement, their wedding, their maternity session and now the birth of their daughter. As a photographer this is exactly what I got into the business for. To document the real. To document life. I’ve been lucky enough to follow along on their crazy ride! Here are a few memorable images from the birth of their daughter Maddie, you know the babe that demoted me from third wheel to fourth! ha!

Wilson Family

I feel like I should, yet again, introduce myself. It’s been a minute, but you guys a lot has happened since my last blog post! For one thing, I moved back home from DC and into a photo studio in downtown Crawfordsville IN. Follow me on Instagram (@abbeyelainephotography) for weekly studio vibes to see what’s happening inside.

I need to give a shout out to the families who have been in it to win it with me since the beginning. This family being one. I can’t even explain how beautiful their family is. You’ll just have to see for yourselves below. A lot has changed in their family as well including a  new little sugar. I love growing with my families and photographing their realness, hashtag blessed. For the past couple years I’ve made the trip to IL and they never disappoint. Also they have the best baby names, Camp, Cooper and the newest little girl Charlie. Goals. All of them.

L I F E: Welcoming Sylas

This day was one of the most magical days I’ve had in quite some time. It started when I woke up at 8 am from a missed voicemail from Shea’s mother. Shea was in labor and it was moving pretty fast, and they invited me to photograph the experience. The dilemma I had was that I was set to photograph a small wedding at noon. It didn’t take long for me to decide that I would try to make it to the birth first and then head to the wedding. So, I left my house with wet hair, semi wedding like clothing, and my camera. We waited until the very last-minute I could possibly stay in order to be at the wedding on time, but Sylas was camera-shy. I got word he was born half way through the wedding so I came back to check this little guy out. Below are the before and after his birth! Check them out!

All the squish.

I am that person that encourages all of my friends to have babies so I can admire, buy all the baby leggings for them, and take all of the photographs I want of them and then return them when they cry or need a diaper change ;). I love every bit of the belly rolls, squishy cheeks, baby lips and button noses. Meet Beckett, fresh and 7 days new during his little session!

Kellan and Family

Hi! I feel like I should introduce myself again. It’s been that long since I’ve blogged so I thought I’d hit everyone with one of the cutest babes ever! But really, this child. I can’t even begin to explain his sessions. They are a photographers dream in that he shows up smiling and the rest is simple! Also, the bond he has with both of his parents… my goodness the feels. See for yourself!

Kellan

Can we please discuss this child for a quick minute? But really, the child has beautiful big blue eyes. Not only that, but he is the easiest most chill baby I have ever been around. EVER. And then there was his grandma. I have known Jackie for what seems like a very long time. Recently, however, I have been contemplating hiring her as my child whisperer. She and Kellan’s mom, Ali, are totally responsibly for these BIG smiles. Thank you two for being so great to work with and creating such a fun experience for me 🙂

A baby in a bucket, or basket… whichever

It’s not often I get to photograph a newborn. When I do I know I am in for a long few hours, jammed packed with patience and sweat beads rolling down my forehead. This may not sound like fun, but it completely is. During the long few hours I get to know the parents and this small being’s story, which are always unique in themselves.  I often even get to meet and visit with extended family visitors that inevitably come to visit during the sessions. In the end, most of my newborn sessions become one BIG family get together/party all while getting some great shots (does this only happen to me? Because I totally love it!).

Meet Hunter, roughly two weeks old when I photographed him. When I arrived Merridith, his mom, was feeding him and I was sure he would be asleep for most of the session. Wrong. I was so wrong. He stayed awake for most of the session, barely making a sound. His dad, Brody, helped me put him in a basket for the first few shots and his grandma Kim helped be a spotter because safety should always be a concern with a newborn. I have come to the conclusion that every newborn deserves a bucket/basket photo. I am not entirely sure where this phenomenon came from, but Hunter rocked it. I’m sort of jealous I don’t have one of my own from when I was a newborn. Check him out below in all his cuteness glory!
