Mr. and Mrs. Puckett

The best thing about Carmen and Gage was they wanted a stress free day and they achieved it better than any couple I’ve ever photographed. They turned traditional upside down and here’s how. They opted out of a bridal party and instead got ready with close friends and family around, but with less chiffon and boutonnieres. Carmen said nah to a traditional bouquet and instead carried a clutch, so smart right?! They originally wanted to have their ceremony on the stairs at Palladium in Carmel IN, but turns out there was a graduation that moved us just to the side in the garden area which was just as pretty! They didn’t fuss over ceremony music or programs but instead gathered up their family and friends and did the dang thing! The reception followed at Sun King Brewery, cocktail style and the pizza they served hit the freaking spot! Peep their day below! They killed it!

Kylie + Ben

Honestly, I don’t know how I go so lucky to hang with some of the raddest couples on the planet. I knew Kylie, Ben and I were supposed to work together from the get. Their energy was incredible and it literally made session not feel like a session at all. We were just all hanging out running, jumping and sitting in the weeds!

Darby + Taylor Engaged

You know what they say about the Midwest and weather. It’s unpredictable, we can have multiple seasons in one day. Most of my winter sessions look like fall sessions, but honestly I’m okay with that because who doesn’t love fall?

Enough about the weather though, let’s talk Darby and Taylor! I had the best time with the two of them during their engagement session. I guess this blog post would be really awkward if I didn’t ha! I really love engagement sessions because it gives myself and the couple a chance to interact, talk about the wedding but without the chaos or stress. I get to know them even further and vibe with their personalities. Darby and Taylor frolicked up the side of a hill for me, sat on wet grass and drank some beers. Basically they were freaking awesome and they say their friends are just as fun so be on the look out for that wedding preview in August! But for now, take a peek at their mega fun engagement session below!

Andy + Abbie

I had been looking forward to photographing Abbie and Andy’s wedding since we first set foot at their wedding venue for their engagement session. It was everything I imagined it would be the day of. All of the details were stunning and Abbie and Andy are some of the raddest, most chill people around! I couldn’t have asked for a better day peep their preview below!

Charmion: boho

Y’all ain’t ready for this bohemian queen. Charmion contacted me with the idea of photographing her in an outfit she recently ordered. I’ll be honest, I was like mmkay yeah sure I’ll do it, but not really knowing what I got myself into. Then I met her. She’s beautiful and such an awesome person. Also the way she moves in front of the camera. Lord help me. See for yourself below.

Christy + Blake + Baby Bump

It’s funny how photography works. One summer will be filled with ALL of the family sessions, one summer will be filled with seniors the next something different! I was talking with a friend lately about how there must be something in the water because I’ve photographed ALL of the baby bumps lately. And they’ve been so beautiful.

Christy and Blake suggested water for their session and I loved the idea. Little did I know we would have THE perfect day for such a session. Christy was a trooper because this little hidden gem of a place is behind some baseball fields, which apparently were holding tournaments during our slotted session time. She made baring her bump with a possible crowd looking on look effortless and magical.

You both are going to be incredible parents and I’m so excited for you to bring life into this world!

sidenote: her Becky shirt is on point and I think everyone who is pregnant should have one!

Mr. and Mrs. Taylor

Get you a bride that is also an event planner (C. Taylor Events). Why? Because she will send you a shot list for her wedding and you wont have to touch it. She will make you an actual spread sheet. And laminate it. And you will want to thank her a million times over! Chelsea and Ethan were the dream team when it came to photographing a bride and groom. Their wedding was beautifully done and filled with those little moments that every photographer weeps over when editing. Check it out for yourself. Their love is goals.

Also, shoutout to the groomsmen with the solo dance? moves. haha!

Abby + Austin

It’s no secret that couples are my jam. I love spending an hour or two engulfed in the love they share. Being a fly on the wall, an awkward fly on the wall, while they share little laughs, loving looks at one another. It’s seriously my favorite. These two are just one example of why I love being that awkward fly. Abby ( pretty awesome name am I right?!) said this was their first time getting photos taken together. You’d never be able to tell. They were super comfortable, but then maybe that’s because they love each other so much and love each other out loud through the way they hug or whisper in one another’s ear. See for yourself, check out their dreamy session.

p.s.

Abby has mad dance skills. Austin’s reaction is proof! ha!

Third Wheel

I feel like I’ve somewhat been the third wheel in Erik and Meagan’s relationship. I’m totally not mad about it. I’ve photographed their family, just them, their engagement, their wedding, their maternity session and now the birth of their daughter. As a photographer this is exactly what I got into the business for. To document the real. To document life. I’ve been lucky enough to follow along on their crazy ride! Here are a few memorable images from the birth of their daughter Maddie, you know the babe that demoted me from third wheel to fourth! ha!

Sam, Cville’s very own bike man

One thing I’m sure of, photography has taught me to see. To look around. Even in the smallest of towns. Through seeing I found that there are so many interesting people to be photographed. So many people with stories to be told.

Many of you have seen him. He’s the guy riding around town on a bicycle with the impressive handle bars. Sometimes he’s in camo, sometimes simply a flannel and converse shoes, but always wearing a mustache. He’s actually twitter famous (@CvilleBikeMan), but that’s besides the point. I’ve been determined to photograph him for months and as fate would have it I got my chance this past weekend.  I rolled up to my studio downtown and he was walking out of one of the local eateries gearing up to take off on his famous bike. I introduced myself and thankfully he didn’t find it creepy when I told him to follow me to an alley to do these photos. We talked for a second. I told him to stop by the studio if he saw my door open and that I would give him some prints. Today, he did just that.

It turns out the Crawfordsville bike man has a name, Sam. He was knowledgeable, a bit of a rebel and not a person to conform to society and how it tells us to define ourselves. He said he has his driver’s license, but prefers to ride his bike for exercise. He talked politics, which I wasn’t all that surprised about. He has two bikes and is looking into a third, sometimes he uses the horn on them. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want him to stop by again.

In the end, if you take anything from this post it should be this. Take a look around. See people. We actually are all very different from one another and there are so many stories to be told. Find the rebels in the crowd, those not afraid to be who they are or are deciding for themselves who they want to be. Be inspired by Sam.
