Mr. and Mrs. Puckett

The best thing about Carmen and Gage was they wanted a stress free day and they achieved it better than any couple I’ve ever photographed. They turned traditional upside down and here’s how. They opted out of a bridal party and instead got ready with close friends and family around, but with less chiffon and boutonnieres. Carmen said nah to a traditional bouquet and instead carried a clutch, so smart right?! They originally wanted to have their ceremony on the stairs at Palladium in Carmel IN, but turns out there was a graduation that moved us just to the side in the garden area which was just as pretty! They didn’t fuss over ceremony music or programs but instead gathered up their family and friends and did the dang thing! The reception followed at Sun King Brewery, cocktail style and the pizza they served hit the freaking spot! Peep their day below! They killed it!

Frolicking into mentor sessions like…

I always love meeting people that jump full force into their dreams. They have that no fear attitude and are ready to go full force into something they really feel pulled to do. Meet Natasha. She owns Natasha Renae Photography. She’s an artist and such an incredible human being. She reached out a month or so ago about one of the mentor sessions I offer. She traveled to me from the Indianapolis/Avon area and freaking killed her mentor session. We got the opportunity to work with two sets of couples and it was serious magic.

My favorite thing after these sessions are seeing the photos from the night that each mentee has done. I woke up this morning tagged in her previews and you guys. Holy whoa! I’ve tagged her social media handles below so you can go check them out and show her all the love!

I’m an open book during these sessions and love connecting with each and every person I get to experience these sessions with. I love being a part of their journey as they continue being bad asses. I love that we become a small community, friends and collaborators. I love seeing people freaking go for it. Peak my previews below and make sure to visit Natasha on her social pages!

“I have a history of not asking for help and feel like I should “figure it out” on my own – why? Beats me. Abbey 100% took me under her wing and shared all the knowledge and truth bombs (like I should NOT do this alone 😂) and I am forever changed.”

Kylie + Ben

Honestly, I don’t know how I go so lucky to hang with some of the raddest couples on the planet. I knew Kylie, Ben and I were supposed to work together from the get. Their energy was incredible and it literally made session not feel like a session at all. We were just all hanging out running, jumping and sitting in the weeds!

Darby + Taylor Engaged

You know what they say about the Midwest and weather. It’s unpredictable, we can have multiple seasons in one day. Most of my winter sessions look like fall sessions, but honestly I’m okay with that because who doesn’t love fall?

Enough about the weather though, let’s talk Darby and Taylor! I had the best time with the two of them during their engagement session. I guess this blog post would be really awkward if I didn’t ha! I really love engagement sessions because it gives myself and the couple a chance to interact, talk about the wedding but without the chaos or stress. I get to know them even further and vibe with their personalities. Darby and Taylor frolicked up the side of a hill for me, sat on wet grass and drank some beers. Basically they were freaking awesome and they say their friends are just as fun so be on the look out for that wedding preview in August! But for now, take a peek at their mega fun engagement session below!

L I F E: Welcoming Sylas

This day was one of the most magical days I’ve had in quite some time. It started when I woke up at 8 am from a missed voicemail from Shea’s mother. Shea was in labor and it was moving pretty fast, and they invited me to photograph the experience. The dilemma I had was that I was set to photograph a small wedding at noon. It didn’t take long for me to decide that I would try to make it to the birth first and then head to the wedding. So, I left my house with wet hair, semi wedding like clothing, and my camera. We waited until the very last-minute I could possibly stay in order to be at the wedding on time, but Sylas was camera-shy. I got word he was born half way through the wedding so I came back to check this little guy out. Below are the before and after his birth! Check them out!

Mel: Maternity and family… Holy geez the beauty.

Mel and I went to high school together and I’ve seen her family grow through social media and reading her blog posts. She has two stunning young boys and a third on the way! Mel asked me to do a 48 hour session when baby Emmett arrived and I could not have been happier. I love babies and all their squish, big brother moments and beautiful tinder family moments as their lives change in a blink of an eye. I approached Mel about doing a maternity session, mostly because she is a beautiful individual, but I also love maternity sessions and don’t schedule enough of them. As planning went along I decided why shouldn’t we bring the whole family along? It’d give the boys a chance to meet me and get used to me for the day Emmett made his appearance. I also brought a few water guns, for smiling purposes of course! See the beauty of what is Mel’s family below!

Morgan Family

I’ve known Cait for a few years now and actually had the privilege of having her take a few pics, our only professional pics (caitmorganphotography.com), of Neil and I semi recently. She has completely become one of my favorites in life and her family is seriously one of the raddest around! The first time I did photos of their family, little Etta was still cooking and June stole the show with her crazy/awesome hair and smile. I envy her baby names and her skills for sending the best gifs in text messages. Their family is beautiful, take a look!

oh. em. gee. YES!

Can we please discuss the fact that my younger sister got engaged this winter? And not to just anyone, but to one of my best friends. What’s even better was Rob, aka her fiancé, aka marine and all around good guy, planned the entire moment around me photographing it! Here’s the short version of their story!

I was to arrive at Rob’s family home for a “family session” and a few photos of the two of them that he could have before he left to head back to base. We did the session and then headed to downtown Indianapolis for a few more of just the two of them. Rob and I devised a plan that when we got downtown and were ready for the question to be popped I would get them into a good location and then tell him what time it was. He would then make eye contact with me and tap the pocket the ring was in to make sure I was good to go. Then he’d pull out the best speech of his life AND that fat rock! It’s safe to say the plan flew out the window! We got into a good location on the circle, I told them what time it was and it was like everything stood still. So I improvised. and by that I mean I asked, “so… do either of you have any more ideas on what else we could do?” Not to pat myself on the back, but it was one of my best provisions to date. Meaning it lead perfectly into Rob saying “I have an idea…” and then it happened. ALL. THE. FEELS. It was perfect. The entire moment. There were cheers from everyone close by and from his family across the street who got there just in time to witness it all. But we didn’t stop there. After letting it settle in and of course taking more photos we headed to Buca di Beppos where our family surprised her and the two families joined in for a celebratory dinner! She said yes, we had great food, and two families joined together for an eventful evening. It doesn’t get much better than that! Welcome to the family Rob. Thanks for making my sister happy and be prepared for an awesome speech by yours truly at the wedding!
